What is the difference between cake 'layers' and 'tiers'?
Cake layers are the individual, flat cake sections that are baked and then stacked together, with buttercream filling in between.
Cake tiers are whole cakes with layers, while multi-tiered cakes include multiple stacked cakes of varying sizes.
